2002년 서울대학교 박사과정을 이수하였으며 현재 (사)한국유니버설디자인협회 회장으로 재직 중이다. 1993년 건축사면허 취득 후 현대산업개발 사옥, 파크하얏트호텔 등 다수의 건축설계 업무를 진행하였다. 지체장애1급의 중증 장애인으로서 건축을 비롯한 교통,도시,제품 분야에서 누구나 안전하고 사용하기 편한 유니버설디자인 확산을 위해 노력하였다. 서울시, 국토부, LH 등의 유니버설디자인 가이드라인 수립 업무를 총괄 진행하였다. 2016년 서울시유니버설디자인 도시조성 기본조례를 발의하였고, 2020년 서울시 유니버설디자인센터를 출범시키는데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 또한 ‘유니버설관광시설 인증제(2019) 연구와 ‘교통약자를 위한 스마트 건축정보시스템 구축(2020)’연구를 진행하였다.

He completed his Ph.D. program at Seoul National University in 2002 and is currently chairman of the Korea Universal Design Association. After obtaining a license for an architect in 1993, he carried out a number of architectural design works, including the Hyundai Industrial Development Office building and the Park Hyatt Hotel. As a first-class disabled person with severe disabilities, they tried to spread universal design that was safe and convenient for anyone to use in the fields of transportation, cities, and products, including architecture. It was responsible for establishing universal design guidelines for Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and LH. The Seoul Metropolitan Government proposed the Framework Ordinance on the Creation of Universal Design Cities in 2016 and played an important role in the launch of the Seoul Universal Design Center in 2020. It also conducted research on the Universal Tourism Facilities Certification System (2019) and the establishment of a smart architectural information system for the transportation vulnerable in transportation (2020).
