한경구 박사는 2020년 12월에 유네스코한국위원회 사무총장으로 취임했다. 서울대학교 (석사)와 하버드대학교 (박사)에서 교육받은 문화인류학자로서 강원대학교에서 인류학을 가르쳤고, 국민대학교에서 국제학부 교수 및 학부장, 서울대학교 자유전공학부 교수 및 학부장을 역임했으며, 서울대 교육상을 수상했다.
그 이외 유네스코한국위원회, 환경운동연합 정책기획위원회, 지속가능발전위원회 위원, 코리아저널, 사회와 역사 편집위원, 한국문화인류학과 한국 사회과학 저널의 편집장을 역임했으며, 한국이민학회, 한국국제이해교육학회, 한국재외동포학회 회장, 한국문화인류학회, 한국사회학회 부회장을 역임했다.

Dr. Kyung Koo Han is the Secretary-General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. As a cultural anthropologist trained at Seoul National University (M.A.) and Harvard University (Ph.D.), Dr. Han taught anthropology at Kangwon National University, and helped develop the Division of International Studies at Kookmin University as its dean. In 2009, he joined the newly founded College of Liberal Studies of Seoul National University and served as its dean.He has served on the editorial boards of the Korea Journal, Sahoewa yeoksa, and was Editor of Hanguk munhwa inryuhak and of the Korean Social Science Journal. Dr. Han was President of the Korean International Migration Studies Association, the Korean Society for Education for International Understanding, and the Korean Society for the Study of Overseas Koreans, as well as Vice President of the Korean Society for Cultural Anthropology, and the Korean Society for Environmental Sociology.
