EU 공무원/외교관으로 20년 이상 근무하였으며, 현재 대외관계청 이란 태스크포스 선임 정책분석관 이란 외교정책 및 주변국과의 역학관계 관련 업무를 담당하고 있다. 이집트 ․ 이스라엘을 포함한 여러 중동국가에서 외교관으로 근무하였다. EU 안보분야 개혁(‘15-16), 대인접국정책(European Neighborhood Policy) 등 주요 정책 기획에 참여하였다.


Mrs Karin Gatt Rutter has over 20 years of EU civil service and diplomatic experience in the field of external relations and is currently a senior member of the Iran Task Force under the direct supervision of the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service. In the Iran Task Force she focuses on Iran’s foreign policy with specific attention to regional dynamics and neighbouring countries. Before that she has worked extensively with the countries in the Middle East including in diplomatic postings in Cairo and Jerusalem. In addition to her experience in the Middle East, she led the EU’s policy definition work and implementation in the field of Security Sector Reform in 2015-16, has worked on the European Neighbourhood Programme with a focus on countries in the South Caucasus region and for the European Commission on the EU 2004 enlargement.
