박종욱 한국천문연구원 책임연구원은 약 30년간 활동해 온 우주과학분야 국제협력 전문가이다. 2011년부터 우주과학위원회(COSPAR) 한국위원회에서 한국대표로 활동했고 2020년에는 위원장으로 선출되어 우주과학분야 국제기구를 이끌고 있다. 한국인 최초로 국제위성항법서비스(International GNSS Service) 이사회의 이사로 선출되기도 하였다.
박종욱 박사는 ‘우주기술개발사업 추진위원회’, 거대공공/정책조정전문위원회 등 다수의 위원회에 참여하고 있으며, 주요 연구분야는 소형위성을 활용한 우주과학 국제협력, 우주과학기구와의 국제협력, 소형위성용 우주과학 탑재체 연구개발 네트워크 등이 있다.
연세대학교에서 천문기상학 학사, 천문대기학 석사, 천문우주학 박사를 취득하였다.

Dr. Park is a principal research staff of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), a fully government funded reseach institute for astronomy and space science in Korea. He had served as the directors of Space Science division and planning division in KASI.
His primary research interests are Space Geodesy including the GNSS, and Space Situational Awareness. He is also interested in the international collaboration on various space research area not only GNSS but also space weather and space exploration.
He is currently the member of various national committee for the space-related R&D programs and space policy including the Committee on Space Development Promotion and Korean Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) mission.
He was the board member of the International GNSS Service (IGS) and is currently serving as the Chair of Korean National Committee for COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) and the chair of local organization committee for the 45th COSPAR Scientific Assembly (COSPAR 2024) which will be held in Busan, Korea, 2024.
He holds a Ph.D. in Space Science from Yonsei University, Korea.
