CHO Hong-Sik 조홍식
	Seoul National University School of Law 서울대학교 법대 Professor 교수 "홍식 박사는 서울대학교 법대 환경법, 행정법학, 법정책 일반이론 교수이다. 1997년 서울대 교수진에 합류하기 전 1989년부터 1991년까지 지방법원 판사로 재직했다. 법률 사무소에서 법학을 공부하기 위해 판사직을 사임한 후, 그는 1992년 UC 버클리의 볼트 홀 법대에 진학했다. 1995년 볼트 홀에서 법학석사(LL.M)와 법학박사(J.S.D) 학위를 마친 뒤 그는 환경법을 가르치는 국내 최초의 법학교수로 임용되었다. 그는 국내 환경 및 에너지 법의 권위자로 여겨진다. 서울대 법대 학생부원장과 교무부원장, 대학원 공법학 전공주임 등을 역임했으며, 환경에너지법정책센터 센터장을 맡고, 5대 그리고 28대 서울대학교 법학전문대학원 학장/원장으로 선출됐다. 그는 2016년 6월 1일부터 서울대 법대 학장/법학전문대학원 원장에 역임하였으며, 그는 볼트 홀, 듀크대 로스쿨, 도쿄 대학교 법학과 초빙교수이며, 볼트 홀과 독일 프라이부르크 대학교 객원학자로 활동했다. 그는 또한 한국 정부와 함께 환경부 규제개혁분과위원회 위원, 대통령직속 녹색성장위원회, 환경부 지속가능발전위원회, 그리고 몇몇 정부 위원회 위원을 역임했다. 2020년 5월부터 외교부 환경협력대사로도 활동하고 있다. 그는 서울지방변호사회 및 미국 New York주 변호사협회 회원이다. 그는 여러 권위 있는 법률 저널에 많은 기사를 실었다. 최근 출간된 그의 저서는 다음과 같다. 민주주의와 시장주의(2007년), 사법통치의 정당성과 한계(2010년), 기후변화와 법의지배(2010년), 판례환경법(2012년), 기후변화시대의 에너지법정책(2013년), 환경법원론(2020년 2월) 등이다. " "Dr. Hong Sik CHO is a professor of law teaching and learning environmental Law, Administrative Law, and General Theory of Law and Policy at Seoul National University, School of Law. Before joining SNU faculty in 1997, he was a district court judge from 1989 to 1991. After resigning judgeship to practice law at a law firm, he went to Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley to advance his study in 1992. After finishing his LL.M and J.S.D degree at Boalt Hall in 1995, he was appointed as the first law professor in Korea to teach environmental law. He is considered as the authority of environmental and energy law in Korea. He worked as the Associate Dean in charge of academic affair and student affair of SNU, School of Law, as Faculty Director for Graduate Program in Public Law, and Associate Director of American Studies Institute of SNU. He is currently the Chief Director of Center for Energy and Environmental Law and Policy of SNU. He was elected as the 28th Dean of SNU, College of Law and 5th Dean of SNU, School of Law. He has begun his deanship from June 1, 2016. He has been a visiting professor of law at Boalt Hall, Duke Law School, and University of Tokyo, and a visiting scholar at Boalt Hall and Freiburg University in Germany. He also worked with the Korean government as a member of Regulatory Reform Subcommittee of Ministry of Environment of Korea, and as a member of Committee on Green Growth, Sustainable Development Committee, and a few other governmental committees. Since appointed in May, 2020, he has been working as Ambassador for Environment as well. He is a member of Seoul Bar and New York State Bar. He has published a large number of articles at various prestigious law journals. His books published recently includes: Democracy and Market Economy (2007), The Justifiability and Limits of Judicial Governance (2010), Climate Change and the Rule of Law (2010), Case Book on Environmental Law (2012), Energy Law and Policy in the Age of Climate Change (2013), Principles of Environmental Law (2nd ed. 2020)."
