페데리코 파일라는 1961 년 5 월 6 일 노토 (시라쿠사, 시칠리아 섬)에서 출생하였다. ‘85년 2월 1일부터 ’88년 4월 14일까지 그는 이탈리아 외교부 이민-사회업무국에서 국제사법협력 및 영사 보호를 위한 사무차장으로 근무했다. 이후, 주 홍콩 이탈리아 총영사 (’88.04.15.-’92.06.14.), 주 뉴델리 이탈리아 대사관 경제상무 담당 참사 (’92.06.15.-’95.11.12.), 외교부 경제국 북아프리카-중동과 사무차장 (’95.11.13.-’97.09.30.), 외무부 경제국 비유럽연합 국가 대외관계실에서 아시아, 중남미, 중동 담당 (’97.10.01.-’98.11.03.), 광저우 주재 이탈리아 총영사 (’98.11.04.-’02.07.31.), 브뤼셀 소재 유럽연합 대표부에서 이민 사회업무 담당 일등서기관 (’02.08.01.-’05.07.13.), 동아시아국 아시아, 오세아니아, 태평양 및 남극담당 국장 (’05.07.14.- ’07.01.08.), 외교부 이탈리아-중국 정부위원회 이탈리아 측 조정관 (’07.01.09.-’09.05.31.), 토리노 소재 중국현대연구센터 집행위원회 위원 (’06-’10), 외교부 이탈리아 대학 국제화 및 파르네시나 디자인 컬렉션 프로젝트 문화진흥국 활동 조정관 (’09.06.01.-’11.07.14.), 자카르타 주재 대사 겸 딜리 (동티모르) 주재 대사, 동시에 동남아시아국가연합 상주대표로 (’11.07.15.-’15.11.15.) 역임했다. 그는 2015년 11월 16일 외무국제협력부의 세계화국에서 동남아시아국가연합 고위 조정관으로 임명되었다. 2016년에는 Uni-Italia 이사회의 외무국제협력부 측 이사였으며, 2017년 외무국제협력부의 세계화국에서 에너지 담당 조정관이었다. 2019년 3월 1일부터는 주한 이탈리아 대사로 임명되어 현재까지 근무하고 있다. 파일라는 2009년부터 전권공사이며, 2009년 이탈리아 공화국 공로장을 받았다. 페데리코 파일라는 웡신와(Won Sin Wah) 부인과 결혼하여 슬하에 두 아들이 있다. 페데리코 파일라는 이탈리아어, 영어, 프랑스어를 구사한다.

Federico Failla was born in the Sicilian city of Noto (SR) on May, 6th 1961. From 01/02/85 to 14/04/88 he served as Deputy Head of Office for International Judicial Cooperation and Consular Protection at the Directorate General for Migration and Social Affairs at MoFA. From 15/04/88 to 14/06/92 he was appointed as Deputy General Consul of Italy to Hong Kong. From 15/06/92 to 12/11/95 he served as Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Italian Embassy in New Delhi, India. From 13/11/95 to 30/09/97 he served as Deputy Head of Office for North Africa and Countries in the Middle East at the Directorate General for Economic Affairs at MoFA. From 01/10/97 to 03/11/98 he was appointed as Deputy Head of the EU External Relations Office for Asia, Latin America and the Middle East at the Directorate General for Economic Affairs at MoFA. From 04/11/98 to 31/07/02 he was appointed as Consul General of Italy to Guangzhou, China. From 01/08/02 to 13/07/05 he served as First Counsellor for Migration and Social Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union, Brussels. from 14/07/05 to 08/01/07 he was appointed as Head of the East Asia Office at the Directorate General for Countries of Asia, Oceania, the Pacific and Antarctica at MoFA. From 09/01/07 to 31/05/09 he worked as Italy’s Coordinator in the Italy-China Governmental Committee at MoFA. From 2006 to 2010 he was a Member of the Executive Council of the Centre for Advanced Studies on Contemporary China in Turin, Italy. From 01/06/09 to 14/07/2011 he was appointed as Coordinator for the projects for the internationalization of Italian Universities and the activities of the Farnesina Design Collection at MoFA. From 15/7/2011 to 15/11/2015 he was appointed as Ambassador of Italy to Indonesia & East Timor and Permanent Representative to ASEAN. On 16/11/2015 he served as ASEM Senior Official at the Directorate General for Globalization, MoFAIC. In 2016 he was the Member of Uni-Italia’s Board of Directors as a Representative of MoFAIC. In 2017 he was the Coordinator for Energy Issues at the Directorate General for Globalization, MoFAIC. From 1/3/2019 until now he is the Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Korea. Federico Failla is Plenipotentiary Minister since 2009 and received the honour of Commander of the Italian Republic. He speaks Italian (native), English, French and is married to Mrs. WONG Sin Wah, with 2 sons.
