에반 메데이로스 박사는 동아시아 국제정치, 미중관계 및 중국 외교‧국내 안보정책 전문가이다. 다수의 저서 및 논문을 집필한바 있으며, 글로벌 기업 및 전세계 언론을 대상으로 정기적으로 자문 및 논평을 제공하고 있다. 메데이로스 박사는 연구 분야에서의 전문성과 실제 경험을 모두 갖춘 독자적 식견을 보유한 전문가이며, 미국 국가안보실(NSC) 중국‧대만‧몽골 국장으로 6년간 근무하였으며, 이후 대통령 특별 보좌관 겸 아시아 선임국장을 역임하였다. 특히, 대통령 특별 보좌관 역임 시절 오바마 대통령의 아태지역 핵심 자문관으로서 미국의 동 지역 내 외교, 국방, 경제, 정보 분야 정책을 조정하는 역할을 담당하였다. 또한, 미중 정상회담을 비롯하여 미중관계의 모든 측면에 적극적으로 관여한바 있다.

Dr. Evan Medeiros is an expert on the international politics of East Asia, U.S.-China relations and China’s foreign and national security policies. He has published several books and articles and regularly provides advice to global corporations and commentary to the international media. Dr. Medeiros’ expertise is a unique blend of research expertise and practical experience. He previously served for six years on the staff of the National Security Council as Director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia – and then as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Asia. In the latter role, Dr. Medeiros served as President Obama’s top advisor on the Asia-Pacific and was responsible for coordinating U.S. policy toward the Asia-Pacific across the areas of diplomacy, defense policy, economic policy, and intelligence. He was actively involved in all aspects U.S.-China relations for six years, including several U.S.-China summits.
