서울대학교 사범대학 교육학과를 졸업했고, 동 대학원 교육학과에서 석사, 박사학위를 취득했다. 1986년부터 제주대학교 교육대학, 교육대학원 초등교육학과, 사회교육대학원 심리치료학과 등에서 교육사회학, 다문화교육, 평생교육, 교육복지와 상담 등을 강의하고 있다. 제주대학교 초등교육연구소장, 사회교육대학원장 등의 보직을 수행했고, 대통령자문 교육혁신위원회 상근전문위원, 한국평생교육학회 회장, 한국초등교육학회 회장 등을 역임했다.

Min Ho KIM received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Education at College of Education, Seoul National University. and he also received his master's and doctorate degrees from SNU. Since 1986, he has been teaching sociology of education, multicultural education, lifelong education, educational welfare and counseling at Teachers College, Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Social Education in Jeju National University. He also held positions such as Director of Elementary Education Research and Dean of Graduate School of Social Education at JNU. He served as a full-time expert on the Presidential Advisory Committee for Education Innovation. He also served as the president of the Korean Society for Lifelong Education and the president of the Korean Society for Elementary Education.
