경희대학교 국제대학(원) 부교수로 재직 중이며, 서울대학교에서 법학학사(LL.B.)를 취득한 후, 연세대학교에서 국제학석사(M.A.), 코넬대학교 로스쿨에서 법학석사(LL.M.), 법학박사(J.S.D.)를 취득하였다. 현재 유엔 인권이사회 자문위원회 위원으로 활동하고 있으며, 과거에는 한국인권재단 감사, 대한국제법학회 연구이사, 인권법학회 연구이사, 국방부 인권자문위원, 대한변호사협회 국제인권특별위원회 위원 및 국가인권위원회 국제인권 전문위원 등을 역임한 바 있다. 최근 저서로는 Transitional Justice in Unified Korea (Palgrave Macmillan) 등이 있다.

Buhm-Suk BAEK is Associate Professor at Kyung-Hee University, College of Int’l Studies in Korea. He is a member of the UN HRC Advisory Committee, and served as an advisor to various government agencies and NGOs dealing with human rights issues. His research focuses on International Human Rights Law, Transitional Justice, Law & Development, and Third World Approaches to International law. His work appears in such journals as Asian Yearbook of International Law, Korea Observer, Korean Journal of International and Comparative Law, and Asian & Pacific Migration Journal. He also published a book titled TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE IN POST-UNIFICATION KOREA by Palgrave McMillan with Ruti Teitel. He received a LL.B. from Seoul National University, and LL.M. and J.S.D. from Cornell Law School.
