강수웅 교수는 약 40여년 동안 제주국제대학교(전 제주산업정보대학) 토목과 교수로 재직하면서 토목분야의 많은 인재들을 양성하셨다. 또한 2005~2011년까지 제주특별자치도 도시계획위원회 위원 및 부위원장으로 활동하면서 제주의 도시계획, 전반적인 지역발전에 많은 도움을 주셨으며, 부위원장으로 활동 당시 예래유원지 조성계획 변경에 대한 심의를 심도있게 진행하기도 하였다. 한양대학교 토목공학과를 졸업하고 국민대학교에서 석박사 학위를 취득하였고, 저서 ’GPS이용 기준점 결정방안에 관한 실험적 연구’외에 ‘다목적 활용 위한 지적행정의 발전방향에 관한 연구’ 등 다수의 학술논문을 게재하였다. 대학장상, 교육인적자원부장관 표창장, 황조근정훈장 등 다수의 수상경력이 있으며, 2002년 대한토목학회 제주지부 초대회장, 제주특별자치도 건설기술심의위원, 하천관리심의위원 등으로 활동하면서 제주특별자치도의 관련 산업에 많은 이바지를 하였다. 현재는 대한국토도시계획학회 고문으로 활동하면서 후배들에게 많은 도움을 주고 있다.

Professor Soowoong Kang has been a professor of civil engineering at Jeju International University(former Jeju College of Technology) for about 40 years, nurturing many talented people in the civil engineering field. He also served as a member and vice-chairman of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Urban Planning Committee from 2005 to 2011, helping Jeju's urban planning and overall regional development, and deliberating on changes to the Yerae amusement park construction plan. He graduated from Hanyang University with a master's degree in civil engineering, Kookmin University published a number of academic papers, including an experimental study on how to determine the standards for GPS use, and "A Study on the Development of Intellectual Administration for Multipurpose Use." In 2002, he served as the first chairman of the Jeju Civil Society, a construction technology review committee of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and a river management review committee member, and contributed a lot to related industries inJeju Special Self-Governing Province. Currently, he is an advisor tothe Korean Planning Association and is a great help to his juniors.
