이진상 교수는 경제, 국제개발협력, 아프리카경제를 가르치고 있으며, 국제개발협력연구원장과 한국아프리카학회장을 겸하고 있다. 1994년부터 2년간 에티오피아 아디스아바바대학교에서 경제학을 강의하고 이후 덕성여자대학교에서 강의, 고려대학교 국제대학원 교수로 재직한 것을 포함, 영국, 에티오피아, 한국에서 25년 이상 학생들을 가르치며, 아프리카 및 국제 경제발전에 관련한 여러 학술지와 연구보고서를 저술하였다. 국무총리실 국제개발협력위원회 민간위원과 외교부의 자문위원을 역임하기도 했다. 이진상 교수는 아프리카 경제발전, 인적자원개발, 대외원조, 기술개발, 국제경제 분야에서 활동을 계속해나가고 있다. 이진상 교수는 영국 글래스고대학교에서 경제학을 공부하고, 랭커스터대학교에서 국제무역금융 석사를, 스트래스클라이드대학교에서 개발경제학 박사학위를 취득하였다.

Dr. Jin-sang Lee teaches economics, international development and cooperation, and African Economics. He is also Director of the Institute of International Development and Cooperation at SUNY Korea, and President of the Korean Association of African Studies. He has been teaching for over 25 years in Britain, Ethiopia and Korea, and authored many academic articles in economics, African economic issues, and international development. He has been actively engaged in programs related to African economic development, human resource development, foreign aid, technology development and international economics. Mr. Lee holds his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Glasgow, MSc in International Trade and Finance, Lancaster University, and Ph.D. in Development Economics from the University of Strathclyde, U.K.
