김철원 교수는 경희대학교 호텔관광대학 교수로 국제 및 지역관광경쟁력, 질적관광, 지속가능한 관광, 문화관광, 국제관광 정책, MICE 분야 및 남북평화관광에서 연구 및 교육을 수행하고 있는 전문가이다. 호텔관광대학 학장 및 대학원장, 한국컨벤션학회 회장, 한국지식경영학회 회장을 역임하였고 현재 관광현상질적연구학회 회장을 맡고 있다. 김철원 교수는 조지워싱톤대학에서 MBA, Texas A&M에서 여가관광학 박사를 받았다.

Dr. Chulwon Kim is a professor of Kyung Hee University. He is an expert on regional tourism competitiveness, quality tourism, competitive edges and policies of sustainable, cultural and international tourism, peace tourism, and MICE tourism which are the main focus of his research and activities. He served as dean of College of Hotel Tourism Management, KHU, presidents of Society of Korea Convention, and Knowledge Management Society of Korea and he has now served as a president of Tourism Qualitative Research Association. He received MBA (International Marketing Strategy) at the George Washington University and Ph.D. in Leisure and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University.
