데이비드 아트초아레나는 유네스코 평생 학습 연구소의 이사다. 그는 2018년 4 월에 임명되었다. 그 전에 그는 교육 정책, 고등 교육, 성인 및 직업 교육 및 훈련, 교육 ICT를 감독하는 유네스코의 정책 및 평생 학습 시스템 부서장이었다.
유네스코 본부에 입사하기 전에 아트초아레나는 유네스코 국제 교육 계획 연구소(IIEP)에서 일하면서 교육 계획, 평생 학습, 기술 및 직업 교육, 고등 교육 분야에서 연구 및 역량 강화 프로그램을 수행했다. 그는 또한 IIEP의 훈련 및 교육 프로그램 부서장으로서 교육부 공무원의 역량 개발에 기여했다.
유네스코에서 일하기 전에 아트초아레나는 프랑스 교육부의 평생 교육 기관에서 Chargé de Mission으로 일했으며 세인트 루시아의 재무 기획부에서 프로젝트 코디네이터로 일했다.
아트초아레나는 판테온소르본 주에있는 Paris I 대학에서 경제학 박사 학위를 받았다.

David Atchoarena is the Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning. He was appointed in April 2018. Before that, he was Director of the Division for Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems at UNESCO, with oversight of education policies, higher education, adult and vocational education and training, and ICT in education.
Before joining UNESCO Headquarters, Mr Atchoarena worked at the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), where he conducted research and capacity-building programmes in the fields of educational planning, lifelong learning, technical and vocational education, and higher education. He also contributed to the capacity development of officials from ministries of education as the head of the Training and Education Programmes Unit of IIEP.
Prior to working for UNESCO, Mr Atchoarena served as Chargé de Mission at the National Agency for Lifelong Education of the French Ministry of Education and as a project coordinator in the Ministry of Finance and Planning in Saint Lucia.
Mr Atchoarena holds a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne
