Melvyn Paul LEFFLER 멜빈 레플러
	Emeritus Professor of University of Virginia 버지니아대학교 명예교수 멜빈 폴 레플러는 역사가로서 버지니아 대학에서 명예교수로 활동하고 있다. 냉전 및 미-유럽 관계를 다룬 다수의 책을 집필했으며, 특히, <인류의 영혼을 위해(For the Soul of Mankind) (2007)>라는 저서로 미국역사학회에서 수여하는 조지루이스비어상(George Louis Beer Prize)을, <힘의 우위(A Preponderance of Power) (1993)>로 밴크로프트, 후버 및 페렐 상을 수상한 바 있다. 2010년에는 오드 아르네 베스타와 세 권으로 이루어진 <캠브릿지 냉전사(Cambridge History of the Cold War)>를, 제프 레그로 및 윌 히치콕과 함께 <창조자 국가: 변화하는 세계를 위한 전략(Shaper Nations: Strategies for a Changing World) (Harvard University Press, 2016)>를 공동편집 하기도 했다. 최근에는 <민주적 민족주의 보호: 미 외교정책 및 국가안보 (Safeguarding Democratic Nationalism: U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security,1920-2015) (Princeton, 2017)>를 출간했다. 미국 외교사 협회장, 옥스퍼드 미국사 객원교수 및 버지니아 예술과학대학 학장을 역임한 바 있으며, 현재는 조지 W. 부시 행정부의 외교정책을 다룬 책을 저술 중이다. MELVYN P. LEFFLER is Emeritus Professor of American History at The University of Virginia. He is the author of several books on the Cold War and on U.S. relations with Europe, including For the Soul of Mankind (2007), which won the George Louis Beer Prize from the American Historical Association, and A Preponderance of Power (1993), which won the Bancroft, Hoover, and Ferrell Prizes. In 2010, he and Odd Arne Westad co-edited the three volume Cambridge History of the Cold War. Along with Jeff Legro and Will Hitchcock, he is co-editor of Shaper Nations: Strategies for a Changing World (Harvard University Press, 2016). Most recently, he published Safeguarding Democratic Nationalism: U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security, 1920-2015 (Princeton, 2017). He has served as president of the Society for the History of American Foreign Relations, Harmsworth Professor at Oxford University, and Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at The University of Virginia. He is now writing about the foreign policies of the George W. Bush administration.
