Archie BROWN 아치 브라운
	Emeritus Professor of Politics and International Relations of University of Oxfo 옥스포드대학교 정치외교학과 명예교수 아치 브라운 교수는 옥스포드 정치학 명예교수로 재직중이며, 영국 아카데미 연구원 및 미국 예술과학 아카데미에서 명예로운 외국인 멤버(Honorary Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences)로 활동하고 있다. 정치 리더십, 공산주의 및 냉전에 관한 다수의 책과 글을 집필했다. 저서로는 『공산주의의 흥망성쇠(The Rise and Fall of Communism) (2009)』, 『강한 리더가 위대한 리더라는 환상을 깨라! (The Myth of the Strong Leader: Political Leadership in the Modern Age) (2014; 한국어 번역본2017))』 등이 있으며, 최근에는 『인적 요소: 고르바초프, 레이건, 대처, 그리고 냉전의 종식 (The Human Factor: Gorbachev, Reagan, and Thatcher, and the End of the Cold War) (2020)』을 출간한 바 있다. 1980년대에는 외부 전문가로서 마가렛 대처가 주재하는 구 소련(그리고 영국-구 소련 관계에 관한) 발전에 관한 다수의 영국 정부토론회에 참여하기도 했다. 또한, 영국 대처 전 총리가 미하일 고르바초프를 유망한 개혁지향적 구 소련 지도자로 알게 된 것도 1983년 아치 브라운을 통해서였다. Archie Brown is Emeritus Professor of Politics at the University of Oxford, a Fellow of the British Academy, and an Honorary Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is the author of numerous books and articles on political leadership, Communism, and the Cold War, including The Rise and Fall of Communism (2009); The Myth of the Strong Leader: Political Leadership in the Modern Age (2014; Korean translation 2017); and, most recently, The Human Factor: Gorbachev, Reagan, and Thatcher, and the End of the Cold War (2020). In the 1980s, Professor Brown took part, as an outside expert, in several British government seminars on developments in the Soviet Union (and on British-Soviet relations), chaired by Margaret Thatcher. It was from Archie Brown in 1983 that Prime Minister Thatcher first learned of Mikhail Gorbachev as a likely future, reform-minded Soviet leader.
