한국외국어 대학교에서 아랍어 전공 후, 1984년 외교부에 입부한 후, 이집트, 바레인, 캐나다, 모로코에서 근무하였습니다. 2000년-2001년 한국국제협력단의 총무기획이사로 파견 근무하였습니다. 2004년-2005년 주 영국 대사관에서 총영사로 근무 후, 2006년-2009.6월 주 카타르 대사로 근무하였습니다. 2009.10월-2010.9월 외교부 에너지 자원 대사로 근무 후, 2010.10월-2013.6월 주 사우디 대사로 근무하였습니다. 주 카타르 대사 근무시 반기문 유엔 사무총장 선출관련업무 기여도를 평가받아 국민 포장을 수여 받았습니다. 외교부에서 은퇴 후, 2013.9월-2014.2월 가천대학교 초빙교수, 한국 원자력 연구원 고문, 삼성물산 고문으로 근무하였으며, 2014.4월-2016.6월 삼성전자 고문으로 근무하였습니다. 2017.2월-2018.2월 한국 전력공사 고문으로 근무하였습니다 2017.3월-2021.3월 롯데칠성 음료 사외이사 겸 감사 위원장 (2019.3월-2021.3월)으로 근무하였습니다.

Studied Arabic at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. In 1984 I Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served at Egypt, Bahrain, Canada and Morocco. From 2000 to 2001 I served as director for planning and administration at KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency). From 2004 to 2005 I served as consul general at the Korean Embassy in U.K. From 2006 to June 2009 I served as ambassador to the State of Qatar from Oct. 2009 to Sep. 2010 I served as ambassador at large for energy and natural resources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From Oct. 2010 to June 2013 I served as ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while serving in Qatar, I was decorated the Medal of Civil Merit in recognition of efforts to the election of H.E. Ban Ki-moon as UN secretary general. After retired from foreign service, from Sep. 2013 to Feb. 2014 while lectured at Gachun University as visiting professor, I served as advisor at KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) and worked at Samsung Corporation as senior advisor. From Apr. 2014 to June 2016 I worked at Samsung Electronics as senior executive advisor. From Feb. 2017 to Feb. 2018 I served at KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) as advisor. From Mar. 2017 to Mar. 2021 worked at Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co. as non-standing director and chairman of auditing committee ( Mar. 2019 - Mar.2021)
