Timo KIVIMAKI 티모 키비매키
	Professor of International Relations of University of Bath 영국 바스대학교 국제관계학 교수 티모 키비매키는 국제관계학 교수로 2015년부터 바스대학에서 강의를 시작했다. 이전에는 헬싱키, 라플란드 및 코펜하겐 대학교에서 교수직을 역임했다. 현재는 북유럽 아시아연구소 (코펜하겐)와 헬싱키 대학교 개발연구소의 소장을 맡고 있기도 하다. 순수한 학문적 연구 이외에도, 핀란드, 덴마크, 독일, 네덜란드, 러시아, 말레이시아, 인도네시아 및 스웨덴 정부뿐 아니라 분쟁 및 테러와 관련된 다수의 UN 및 EU 기관에 자문을 제공하고 있다. 최근 발간한 <세계 시민을 폭력으로 부터 보호하기: 위기의 국가에서 UN 담론 및 관행(Protecting the Global Civilian from Violence: UN discourses and practices in fragile states) (London, Routledge 2021)> 및 <보호실패. 인도주의적 개입주의의 경로와 결과(Failure to Protect.The Path to and Consequences of Humanitarian Interventionism) (Cheltenham: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2019)>에서 현대 전쟁에서 보이는 새로운 패턴을 밝혀내고, 정치적 담론 및 일방적인 인도주의적 개입과 UN 평화유지군의 사례를 살펴봄으로써 이에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고자 했다. 또 다른 저서인 <평화의 패러다임(Paradigms of Peace)(London: Imperial College Press, 2016)>을 통해 다양한 사회 과학적 패러다임이 평화에 관한 연구 및 평화 자체에 기여하는 바를 평가하고 구성주의 중심의 실용주의적인 평화 연구를 위한 의제를 설정한다. 또한 <동아시아의 장기 평화 (The Long Peace of East Asia)(Abingdon: Routledge, 2014)>에서는 동아시아 역내 분쟁으로 인한 사망자가 거의 사라져 간다는 사실을 제시하며, 이러한 현상을 구성주의적으로 이해하고자 한다. <평화연구가 평화를 가져오는가. 학술 외교의 교훈(Can Peace Research Make Peace. Lessons in Academic Diplomacy)(Abingdon: Routledge, 2012)>은 2014년 분쟁연구학회가 선정한 권위있는 베스트 북 수상작 후보로 이름을 올렸다. 최근 발표한 평화 및 분쟁을 주제로한 논문은 중국 국제관계 저널, 퍼시픽 포커스, 퍼시픽 리뷰, 소셜 사이언스, 난민 연구 저널, 아태 국제관계, 평화연구 저널, 국제관계 및 개발 저널, 아시아 안보 및 중동 정책 등 다수의 저널에 실린 바 있다. Professor Kivimäki joined the University of Bath as Professor of International Relations in January 2015. Previously he has held professorships at the University of Helsinki, University of Lapland, and at the University of Copenhagen. Professor Kivimäki has also been director of the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (Copenhagen) and the Institute of Development Studies of the University of Helsinki. In addition to purely academic work Professor Kivimäki has been a frequent consultant to the Finnish, Danish, Dutch, Russian, Malaysian, Indonesian and Swedish governments, as well as to several UN and EU organizations on conflict and terrorism. In his new books Protecting the Global Civilian from Violence: UN discourses and practices in fragile states (London, Routledge 2021) and Failure to Protect. The Path to and Consequences of Humanitarian Interventionism (Cheltenham: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2019) Professor Kivimäki revealed new patterns in contemporary warfare, and made sense of them by looking at political discourses and cases of unilateral humanitarian intervention and UN peacekeeping. Kivimäki's book Paradigms of Peace (London: Imperial College Press, 2016) assesses the contribution of various social scientific paradigms to peace research and peace and sets an agenda for constructivist pragmatist peace research. The Long Peace of East Asia by Kivimäki (Abingdon: Routledge, 2014) reveals the near disappearance of conflict fatalities in East Asian and offers a constructivist understanding of the phenomenon. Kivimäki's book, Can Peace Research Make Peace. Lessons in Academic Diplomacy (Abingdon: Routledge, 2012), was nominated for the prestigious Best Book Prize by the Conflict Research Society in year 2014. Kivimäki's recent articles on peace and conflict topics were published in the Chinese Journal of International Relations, Pacific Focus, the Pacific Review, Social Sciences, Journal of Refugee Studies, International Relations of the Asia Pacific, Journal of Peace Research, Journal of International Relations and Development, Asian Security and the Middle East Policy.
