Dr. CHOI obtained his Honours Degree in Oceanography from Jeonnam National University, and Master degree at the department of Marine Biology, Pukyoung National University, Korea. His Doctor of Philosophy project on the ‘The effects of density on algal competition in culture and the field’ was conducted at Liverpool University, United Kingdom.

He is working at the Faculty of Biological Science, Wonkwang University since 2002. His research fields are to develop seaweed cultivation techniques and monitor the change of macroalgal community. He is also interested in screening bioactivity of seaweed extracts for antioxidant, antifungi and anti-inflammatory. He has published more than 100 papers on the domestic and international journals.
