Asep Setiawan is a member of Indonesian Press Council 2019-2022. Asep started his career as a journalist at the Kompas daily in 1989. As a deputy editor of the international desk since 1991, Asep has also traveled to various countries in international coverage such as the 1990-1991 Gulf War. In 1999 he was appointed as editor of kompas.com, one of the first generation of a cyber-media in Indonesia. Asep's journalistic experience expanded by joining the BBC World Service Department of Indonesia in London in 2000. He assumed position from a presenter to an editor and a head of the BBC Indonesia Bureau in Jakarta in 2002 and then from 2008 to 2010. In 2012 he returned to Indonesia to become Deputy Editor in Chief of Metro TV and then in 2013 he became Head of the Media Research Center at Metro TV until 2019. Books that have been published include Radio Journalism in 2012 and Practical Journalism in 2012. Asep graduated from the Department of International Relations, University of Padjadjaran in 1988. A master's degree in International Relations was obtained from the University of Birmingham, England in 1994. Meanwhile, Doctor of International Relations was received from Postgraduate Program of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Science, University of Padjadjaran in 2019.


아셉 스티아완은 2019년부터 2022까지 인도네시아 언론위원회 위원이다. 그는 1989년 콤파스 일간지에서 기자 생활을 시작해 1991년부터 국제 보도국의 부편집장으로 1990-1991년 걸프전과 같은 국제 취재 분야에서 여러 나라를 다녔다. 1999년 인도네시아 1세대 인터넷 매체 중 하나인 콤파스(Kompas.com)의 에디터로 활동했으며, 2000년에는 영국 런던의 BBC 월드 서비스 인도네시아 지부에서 커리어를 이어나갔다. 자카르타에 위치한 BBC 인도네시아 지국장에 임명되어 2008년부터 2010년까지 재직했다. 2012년 인도네시아로 돌아와 메트로TV의 부편집장이 되었으며 2013년에는 메트로TV의 미디어 연구 센터장으로 2019년까지 활동한 바 있다. 출간된 책으로는 2012년 라디오 저널리즘과 2012년 실용 저널리즘이 있다.
1988년 파드자드자란 대학 국제관계학부를 졸업하여 1994년 영국 버밍엄 대학에서 국제관계학 석사학위를 취득했다. 이후 2019년 파드자드자란대 사회정치학부 국제관계대학원에서 국제관계학 박사학위를 받았다.
