Mr Eric Teo has been the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of Korea since August 2019.

Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Teo was the Director-General of the Northeast Asia Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, from 2014 to 2019. As Director-General, he was involved in the organisation of (i) the historic summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un in Singapore in June 2018 and (ii) the historic cross-strait meeting between Mr Xi Jinping and Mr Ma Ying-jeou in Singapore in November 2015.

Ambassador Teo joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 1996. Ambassador Teo has served in the Singapore Embassy in Beijing as the Deputy Head of Mission from 2011 to 2014, in the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei from 2007-10 as the Deputy Trade Representative and in the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo as First Secretary (Political) from 1999-2002.

Mr Teo graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (Upper Honours) Degree in 1996. In 2005, he obtained a Master Degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, USA. He attended an Executive Programme at the Peking University, China in 2010.

에릭 테오 대사는 2019년 8월 주한싱가포르대사로 부임했다.

2014~2019년에는 싱가포르 외교부에서 동북아시아국장을 지냈으며, 재직 기간 중 싱가포르에서 열린 도널드 트럼프 대통령과 김정은 국무위원장 간의 역사상 첫 북미 정상회담 (2018년 6월)과 시진핑 중국 국가주석과 마잉주 대만 총통의 양안 정상회담 (2015년 11월)의 준비에 관여했다.

테오 대사는 1996년 싱가포르 외무부에 입부했고, 2011~2014년 주중싱가포르대사관 공관차석을, 2007~2010년에는 주타이베이 싱가포르무역대표부 부대표를 역임했다. 1999년부터 2002년까지는 주일싱가포르대사관에서 정무담당 일등서기관으로 근무했다.

테오 대사는 1996년 싱가포르국립대학교를 졸업, 2005년 존스홉킨스대에서 국제공공정책학 석사 학위를 취득했고 2010년 베이징대에서 최고위과정을 수료했다.
