Kwon Hyung Lee is a senior research fellow, Head of the Middle East and Africa team at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), a government-funded think-tank. Prior to joining the KIEP he analyzed market trends and industrial development in the automobile sector at Kia Motors’ economic research institute. He also worked for Incheon Development Institute, Incheon Metropolitan City’s think-tank, contributing to implementation of the City’s industrial policies. His research at the KIEP focuses on industrial and energy policies in Middle Eastern countries as well as economic cooperation between Korea and the Middle East. His recent publications are on ‘Financial Cooperation between Korea and the Middle East in the New Industrial and Financial Environment’, ‘Lower Oil Prices and Economic Cooperation between Korea and the Middle East’ and ‘SME Promotion Policies in the Middle East and their Implications for Korea - Middle East Cooperation’. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from Seoul National University and a PhD degree in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

이권형 박사는 대외경제정책연구원 선임연구위원으로 신남방경제실 실장과 아프리카중동팀 팀장을 겸직하고 있다. 2012년부터 2020년까지 한국외국어대학교 국제지역대학원 중동아프리카학과 겸임교수를 지냈고, 2018년부터 외교부 정책자문위원으로 활동하고 있다. 기아경제연구소와 인천발전연구원에서 자동차산업과 산업정책을 연구하기도 하였다. 주요 공저로 ‘중동지역 산업 및 금융환경의 변화와 한.중동 금융협력 방안’, ‘국제유가 하락과 한.중동 협력방안’. ‘중동 주요국의 중소기업 육성정책과 한.중동 협력 확대방안’ 등이 있다. 서울대학교 경제학과를 졸업하고 동 대학원에서 경제학 석사학위를 취득하였다. 런던대학교 SOAS(School of Oriental and African Studies)에서 경제학 박사학위를 취득하였다.
