설재우는 서울의 오래된 지역인 서촌을 중심으로 활동하는 로컬 콘텐츠 크리에이터다. 세계를 여행하며 얻은 경험들과 영감, 아이디어 등을 토대로 자신이 자라온 서촌 지역에 적용시켜서 고유하고 독창적인 콘텐츠를 발굴하고 기록하는 일들을 해왔다. 대표적인 작품은 로컬 매거진 <서촌라이프>, 지역안내서 <서촌방향> 등이 있다. 지역 활동에서 가장 중요한 건 무엇보다도 자립이라고 생각하기에 외부의 지원이나 예산은 받지 않는다. 현재는 지역문화 연구소 씨리얼을 운영하며 개인, 기업, 공공기관 등을 대상으로 강연 및 컨설팅을 하는 한편 꾸준히 서촌을 소개하는 로컬 가이드로 오랫동안 활동하고 있다. 그저 좋아서 시작한 일이 2012년 서울시가 뽑은 ‘국내 이색직업 50개’, ‘미래굿잡(good job) 100개’에 선정되기도 했고, 서울연구원이 선정한 서울 스토리텔러 대상(2013)을 수상했다.

Seol Jae Woo is a local contents creator who works mainly in Seochon(West village), an old part of Seoul. Based on experiences, inspiration, and ideas gained from traveling around the world, he has applied to the local area where he grew up to discover and record unique and original contents. Typical works include local magazine <Seochon Life> and local guide book <Seochon Banghyang>. The most important thing in local activities is that independence, so he doesn’t receive external support or budget. Currently, he runs a local culture research institute and has lectured and consulted for individuals, corporations, and public organizations. He has been working for a long time as a local guide to introduce Seochon. It was selected as one of the 50 best domestic jobs and 100 good jobs by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2012 and won the Seoul Storyteller Award (2013), which was selected by the Seoul Research Institute.
