Nyamosor Tuya served as Mongolia’s first woman Foreign Minister in 1998-2000. In 2000 she briefly served as Mongolia’s Acting Prime Minister in a caretaker government. Tuya was an active promoter of Mongolia’s engagement with multilateral processes of economic and security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and of a more visible role for Mongolia in regional affairs. After leaving office, she continued to work on regional issues at Track 1.5 and Track 2 levels as member of the Mongolian Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (CSCAP) and of the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament (APLN). In 2010, she briefly was back in government to represent Mongolia at the 2010 NPT Review Conference. Tuya’s non-governmental activities include advisory roles in civil society organizations, consultancy and teaching. Tuya was an active participant in Mongolia’s pro-democracy movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s, working on political party development, democracy education, and women’s participation. Tuya is fluent in English, French, and Russian and studied political science and international relations in Russia, the U.K. and the U.S.A. She also studied French culture and civilization at the Sorbonne.

냐모수르 투야는 1998년부터 2000년까지 몽골의 첫 여성 외교부 장관으로 재임했다. 2000년에는 몽골의 과도정부 시기 동안 수상직무대리 직을 맡았다. 몽골의 환태평양 지역의 경제 및 안보의 다자간 협력 참여와 지역관계에서 가시적인 역할을 적극 추진하였다. 공직에서 물러난 후에도 몽골의 아∙태안전보장협력회의(Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific) 및 아∙태 비핵화 무기해제 리더십 네트워크(Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament)의 위원으로 트랙 1.5 및 트랙 2 레벨의 지역 문제 관련 일을 진행했다. 2010년에는 핵확산방지조약(Nonproliferation Treaty) 재검토회의에 몽골 대표로 참석하기 위해 잠시 동안 정부 직무에 복귀하였다. 시민사회기구의 고문, 자문활동, 교육 등 비 정부 활동에도 참여하였으며 1980 말부터 1990년대 초까지 몽골에서 일어난 민주화 운동, 특히, 정당 발전, 민주화 교육 그리고 여성 참여 분야에 동참하였다. 영어, 불어, 러시아어를 유창하게 구사할 수 있으며 러시아, 영국, 미국에서 정치과학 및 국제관계를 전공하였다. 또한 소르본 대학에서 프랑스 문화와 문명을 전공하였다.
