John Tilemann is Director of Research for the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN). Previously he was a career diplomat in the Australian Foreign Service. His career included extensive involvement in nuclear affairs in Canberra, and he represented Australia at various international forums including Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conferences, the Proliferation Security Initiative, the ASEAN Regional Forum Intersessional Meetings on Non-proliferation and Disarmament and at Asian Export Control Seminars. In Vienna he was Australia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and was subsequently seconded as chief of staff to two IAEA DGs (Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei). He was Australia’s ambassador to Jordan 2002-2006 and served previously in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Poland.

존 틸만은 비핵화 및 무기해제를 위한 아시아-태평양 리더십 네트워크(Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament)의 연구소장으로 재임하고 있다. 이전에는 호주 외무부의 직업 외교관이었다. 캔버라에서 핵 관련 문제에 대한 광범위한 영향을 끼쳤으며 핵 비 확산 조약 검토 보고 회의(Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conferences), 대량 살상 무기 확산 방지 구상(Proliferation Security Initiative), 비핵화 및 무기해제 아세안 지역 포럼 정기회의(ASEAN Regional Forum Intersessional Meetings on Non-proliferation and Disarmament), 아시아 수출규제 세미나와 같은 다양한 국제 포럼에서 호주를 대표하였다. 비에나에서 국제원자력기구(International Atomic Energy Agency)의 호주 부대표대사로 지낸바 있으며 이후 국제원자력기구(International Atomic Energy Agency)의 두 명의 부장관의 (Hans Blix 와 Mohamed ElBaradei)의 참모총장 직위를 맡았다. 2002년부터 2006년까지 주요르단 호주 대사로 재임했으며 이전에는 태국, 스리랑카, 파키스탄 그리고 폴란드에서 대사로 지냈다.
